Just another vinyl addict that owes my knowledge and great love of music to many many people including my father, my uncle, and my friends and co-collectors in Austin, TX. Thanks everyone. This is in no way a claim to be an expert in anything but just a site devoted to sharing somethings I love.
I just got this 45 yesterday and I am really excited. It is a classic in the genre and will be the centerpiece on my next mix entitled, "Sweet Jesus: A New Meaning to the Term Soul Music." There is a lot of information about this one on the interwebs so I'll let you dig a little bit on there. I don't claim to be an expert on these records just a fan. This song definitely has a "Just My Imagination" feel and the bassline seems very similar. I know the owner of the label had a well-known record store called Ernie's Record Mart and he also had a popular radio show. This all took place in Nashville, TN (I believe.)
This song was also written up on the far superior gospel blog "Just Moving On" http://blog.justmovingon.info/2008/09/21/florida-spiritualaires--i-remember-when.aspx You should look through the site as it contains some amazing things.
I finished my mix and it can be found at Friends of Sound in Austin. So far I have got some glowing reviews including from local gospel great, LZ Love. I have linited photo capabilities at this minute but I will upload photos soon. I got a big assist on this from Oz of FOS and I really appreciate his help. His sound editing and sequencing were crucial. I am going to try to add at least a few tracks a day from it... but first a new one.
If you can't tell from the mix I have been gospel crazed and have obtained little other than gospel for months... here's one of my new favorites from the New Songbirds record on KRIS entitled Without God? It's Like being a "Fool on A Mule" it's called I'll take Jesus.
I don't know what's wrong with me except things have been hectic... but I have obtained some amazing music in this time... I really want to be more regular with this..
